Easily cultivate and savor fresh sprouts throughout the year with our Natural Roots Stainless Steel Sprouting Jar. Below, you’ll find comprehensive instructions and useful tips to kickstart your sprouting journey.
Materials Needed:
- Sprouting lids
- A largemouth Mason jar (32oz / one liter)
- Sprouting seeds of your choice
- A bowl
Instructions:
- Place 1 to 2 tablespoons of seeds in the Mason jar. Pour water over them, ensuring the water level is two inches above the seeds. Stir the seeds, making sure they are not sticking together or floating. Allow the seeds to soak in water overnight or for 8 to 12 hours, keeping them away from direct sunlight.
- Drain the water.
- Rinse the seeds with fresh water and drain the water a couple of times. Invert the jar, placing it at a 45-degree angle in the bowl to facilitate drainage of residual water.
- Repeat step 3 every 8 to 12 hours daily (for about three to eight days) until your sprouts are ready to harvest.
- Sprouts thrive without direct light and taste better with minimal light exposure. For a greener color, place them on your windowsill where the light can enhance their color. Note that greener sprouts may have a slightly bitter taste. While not mandatory, covering your jar with a thick old sock or dense fabric can optimize sprout health by limiting light/sun exposure, resulting in the best sprouts.
- Store sprouts in a container lined with paper towels to absorb excess water. This method extends their freshness when refrigerated.
You are assured of the freshest sprouts and will save money by cultivating them at home. Sprouts are not only healthy and delicious but also a joy to grow!
