• Transfer the saturated seeds to the sprouting tray. Spread them evenly and rinse with fresh water. A water sprayer in your sink can assist in even seed distribution. Utilize two plates—one as a base and one as a cover with the sprouting tray in between.
• Rinse seeds with fresh water every 8 – 12 hours, two to three times a day. Tilting the tray towards the sink helps remove excess water. Sprouts will emerge in approximately 1 to 3 days, and you can let them grow to your desired length.
• Keep the top plate on as long as possible. While sprouts do not require light for healthy growth, removing the plate at the end of the cycle adds a touch of green. Be cautious, as the “greening” process can lead to a bitter flavor.
• Harvest your home-grown sprouts when ready by gently pulling them out with your fingers. Roots are edible, and some sprouts, like Brassicas, may exhibit root features that resemble fungus, which is a natural part of the root, not actual fungus.
• Store sprouts in the refrigerator. For extended freshness, avoid watering them about 8 hours before harvesting to prevent excess moisture before refrigeration.
